DIY Easy Yarn Hanging

Wall Hanging

It is really simple to make your own wall decor. All you need is yarn/roving, a hoop/wood dowel.

You can try using yarn or wool roving. You can also use a wood dowel rod or even a metal hoop. I used a hoop for my projects at home. I made one with wool roving, which is thicker and fuller.

I also made one with thick yarn. 

Materials

In the photo, the black yarn was of a thicker variety. The purple yarn is basic size. The colorful one on the bottom is roving. Which is unspun wool. People use the roving to make yarn.

Metal Hoops

You can find the metal hoops at a craft store or online. They are called macrame rings. 

Wool Roving

The wool roving I used was from an Etsy Store. It was a sampler bag that included a rainbow of fun colors. I like working with roving because it is so soft and bulky.

Step 1.

You take your desired length yarn and cut it. Fold it over. Grab it from the fold.

Step 2.

Take the folded end and drape over the ring. Then you pull the tails through the top. It is similar to the way you would make a tulle tutu. The no sew kind.

Keep adding yarn until you get the desired width you want. It is very easy to make. Experiment with different colors and lengths. You can even use ribbon or thin pieces of recycled fabric. 

These wall hangings give a boho vibe to any room.

SnackWell's Biscuit Thins are a good source of protein and fiber. They are made with real coffee. I got to try the French Vanilla Latte flavor. I really liked these for dipping in my morning coffee. They have inspirational messages on them. 

Hills Bros., Chock Full o'Nuts, and Kauai Coffee

Single serve pods in great tasting coffee. You can use these K-Cup style pods in your Keurig. They are certified 100% compostable and are better for the environment. My favorite out of the 3 was the Kauai Coffee. 

Overall, I loved my Revive VoxBox.

Make Your Own Plushie

Quick and Easy Plushie

You can make your own plushie with 2 simple materials. All you need is fleece and stuffing or filler.

We had some pink fleece material in the closet, so I decided to make my daughter a quick little plushie. She uses it for her baby stuffed animals. It's a no sew plushie and is really easy to make. 

You can use the cut and knot technique or you can sew. 

Materials you need:

- Any color fleece material

- Quilt filler or stuffing

Soft Filler

We had stuffing on hand. I had originally gotten stuffing for another plushie we made. The other plushie was made using felt and hand sewing. That took a little longer to do. And my hand sewing skills need some work. 

Soft Fleece Material

Fleece can feel really soft, which is always important for a plushie. You can also decorate your design after you finish knotting. Have your kids draw or add fun embellishments. 

What other projects can you do with fleece?

- no sew blankets

- no sew pillows

- no sew floor cushions

Our next project is to make a giant no sew floor cushion. If you don't like the knot technique, there are a few other techniques that don't require sewing. 

Check out the "braided" technique here. This blog shows the braided look for the edge. I like how it looks and will try this next time.

Back to school shopping doesn't have to be stressful. Does it? I usually save things to the last minute. Now we are in August and school starts in September for us, I know I have to start shopping soon. I discovered Tea back when my son was a baby, which is over 7 years now.
